I'd be curious to chat with people who actually make money taking erotic/sexual pics.
Would you tell me more about how/what you do? (Either in this thread or feel free to drop me a line.)
I'm very interested to learn more!
Thanks!

Mon, August 4, 2008 - 7:47 AM"an alternative and so funny way to make money :D !! "
Why is this a funny way to make money? Do you mean "funny' in that you can have fun doing it, or is it "funny" in some other way?
And, remember, even erotic/sexual photographic shoots can tend toward the technical side...leaving the product with all of the sensuality. But I suppose it is all in how you shoot.
Are you looking to do this as an amateur photographer, as a professional, or what?

Re: Do you get Paid for taking Erotic Photo$?
Wed, April 1, 2009 - 5:30 PMIt takes a lot of "footwork." In other words, taking the photos is one thing; marketing them is another. I don't know anyone who makes a living taking erotic photos, but they do make some money.

Re: Do you get Paid for taking Erotic Photo$?
Tue, August 5, 2008 - 9:56 AMI was asking if you thought it was "funny" or "fun". There is a difference. I was just clearing that up. I thought you were implying you found it a humorous way to make money.

Re: Do you get Paid for taking Erotic Photo$?
Wed, August 6, 2008 - 6:58 AMI agree. It can be fun. And, sometimes, it becomes a technical endeavor rather than pure fun. This is pretty common among things that go from being a hobby to being something professional. There is an element of perfection that is needed, as there is an end-product in mind. But, yes, I think that it is certainly something that should be fun for at least the models. They have to have the right emotional vibes going into it. I think the most interesting bit is when a nervous model (or models) break out of their shell and become comfortable. That is fun in that the photographer is able to watch someone grow.

Re: Do you get Paid for taking Erotic Photo$?
Thu, August 7, 2008 - 6:04 AMjoin modelmayhem.com Lots of nude models getting paid gigs there, some travel all over the world on that. Not always explicitly erotic, but paid to be naked and sexy.
Also lots of models on there who will not do nude, but they are in the minority. And lots of good advice and discussions on how to conduct photo shoots from both sides of the camera.
Lots of other modeling sites around, too. But I find mm the best for actually making contacts leading to photoshoots. -

Re: Do you get Paid for taking Erotic Photo$?
Thu, August 7, 2008 - 10:48 PMSeems the OP was asking about people behind the camera. Tons of model stories, but I think the OP was inquiring about how some of us have made a transition from eithr mainstream to erotic or hobby to compensated / career. -

Re: Do you get Paid for taking Erotic Photo$?
Thu, August 14, 2008 - 4:19 AMI am not implying that it is not fun. I was simply trying to say that even things we enjoy- from careers to hobbies- can become difficult at times. I have heard many people say that, while they love doing some of their favorite things, it also is something they hate at times. This is because they want to be as good as they can be, they put a lot of pressure on themselves to acheive lofty goals, etc.
I think that reality says that something that one has an emotional tie to may not always be "fun".
But, I suppose this is the tribe to discuss this further.

Re: Do you get Paid for taking Erotic Photo$?
Thu, August 14, 2008 - 6:45 PMI do not get paid for "taking" Erotic Photos but I also do not consider myself a photographer though I do take some erotic photos on my own rope bondage shoots. (When I'm done tying and have the time too) I have been paid to direct and do erotic video work doing what I am extremely passionate about... Rope Bondage! (Growing my own portfolio brings me more paid work) My own photo shoots I am the guy doing all the "Bondage Work" and crafting what I'm looking for to be captured in still work. But I'm working all that two fold on what I suspect may be about a 3 year project to create my own erotic rope bondage book. I've built a network of relationships with people that enjoy the same energy of creating such erotic content in a day & age where there are simply so many fetishes being brought to the eyes of the rest of the world. I think it is grand that so many people see the artistic aspects of eroticism & BDSM. I also believe anything worth achieving is worth the hard work we put into it.

Re: Do you get Paid for taking Erotic Photo$?
Sun, August 17, 2008 - 1:25 PM1000....I have a friend out in Utah who runs a small model/talent agency that charges by the portfolio, $250-1000...These packages can include fully clothed, bikini, and/or nude depending on the model's desired field of work. If you wish to use the photos yourself in anything other than your own portfolio, you'll need a model waiver....or, he/she may wish to gain the extra 'exposure' as long as credit (or possibly a small royalty) is given them.

Re: Do you get Paid for taking Erotic Photo$?
Sun, August 17, 2008 - 8:28 PMI charge around $400.oo for a nude shoot and if the client doesn't like ANY of the shots ,will do it over . If they use even one then they pay full price. I make sure they look at my previous work and understand that I make artistic nudes (not fashion)albeit with some eroticism. Model release form is standard operating procedure. I am primarily a sculptor so I do this sidework usually only if inspired. And now I use allot of photo manipulation.
