I have a lead on a great place for a studio the problem is the cost approx. $3000.00/mnth. in a central down town location, 1100 sq. ft. huge ceilings, and I can paint, providing I am willing to pain the walls back to basic white when I leave. The thought struck me that I might be able to afford this space if I were to form a Co-op for erotic photographers and artists.
I was wondering if any of you out there ever been a member of a Co-op and did it work for you or if any of you have any thoughts or suggestions on how I might be able to swing this?
Please feel free to send me a reply or a note with any feed back.

Re: Co-op
Fri, October 17, 2008 - 7:00 PMwhy even be a co-op when you could be a photo studio rental? check around SF for rental costs and see what they normally charge; In NYC the going rate is between $300 for three hours to $1000 for the day. -

Sun, October 19, 2008 - 10:36 AMKeith another way of setting up the business is to partner up with few photographers as a time share if you want to guarantee covering expenses for the month.
Of course someone has to be the office manager for setting up appointments and not have any conflicts, which will be true in either case of a co-op, rental or time share.
Depending on location, whether or not the studio has light stands, workstation, cyclorama could factor in if this is workable business venture. I have not set one up, but I know one of my friend shares a photo-studio with four other photographers.
